Earthworks Field Technician

 

The Field Technician provides physical assistance on excavation and septic projects while learning the trade. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors and wants to develop practical skills in earthworks and installing civil services.

 

A successful Field Technician consistently contributes to projects that are safe, productive, and completed to a high standard.

 

Site Quality

  • Complete assigned work to specification with minimal rework (target: less than 2% rework).

  • Leave each work area clean, organized, and ready for the next stage of construction.

  • Finish fine grading and landscaping to the expected standard.

 

Installation Quality

  • Install pipe, fittings, and materials accurately according to plans and grade requirements.

  • Identify and communicate any discrepancies in plans, elevations, or site conditions before work proceeds.

  • Maintain high attention to detail so completed work does not require correction.

 

Productivity and Reliability

  • Arrive prepared to work at the scheduled start time each day.

  • Maintain a steady pace of work while prioritizing quality and safety.

  • Assist the crew in keeping projects on schedule by anticipating what needs to happen next.

 

Equipment and Tools

  • Keep tools clean, organized, and ready for use.

  • Complete assigned equipment cleaning and routine maintenance daily.

  • Report damaged or missing tools immediately.

 

Safety

  • Follow all safety procedures without exception.

  • Identify hazards and bring them to the crew's attention before they become incidents.

  • Contribute to a goal of zero preventable injuries.

 

Teamwork

  • Communicate clearly and respectfully with crew members and clients.

  • Offer assistance when another team member needs support.

  • Take responsibility for your work and follow through on commitments without reminders.

Earthworks Field Technician - Apprentice

Experienced Part-Time Machine Operator
